VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown is a weekly television show on the VH1 cable television network in the United States. The long-running series began in 1994 as the VH1 Top 10 Countdown, as part of VH1's "Music First" rebranding effort. Since then, the series has been a consistent weekly institution on VH1, and it is now the main source of music video programming on the channel. Over the years, a variety of hosts have counted down the top ten or twenty music videos of the week. The show is currently hosted by Jim Shearer. The order of countdown was originally decided by a mix of record sales, radio airplay, video spins, message board posts, and conventional mail, but since 2006, supposedly online votes have directly influenced the countdown. Currently, Top 20 Video Countdown airs new episodes on Saturdays at 9 a.m. with encore presentations every Sunday at 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m eastern time.

The VH1 Rock Honors were an annual ceremony paying homage to bands who influenced the sound of rock music. The events began in 2006, and the final event took place in 2008. The general format of each show is for modern bands to "pay tribute" to classic greats of the rock/metal world, after which time the artist being paid tribute to plays multiple songs. The 2006 and 2007 shows featured four inductees each, whereas the 2008 show featured one, albeit with multiple bands paying tribute. The shows were directed by David Mallet and produced by Paul Flattery. Currently, VH1 has no plans for a CD or DVD release of any show.

In 1998, VH1 debuted the first annual VH1 Divas concert. VH1 Divas Live was created to support the channel's Save The Music Foundation and subsequent concerts in the series have also benefited that foundation. The VH1 Divas concerts aired annually from 1998 to 2004. After a five year hiatus, the series returned in 2009 with a younger-skewed revamp. In 2010 the concert saluted the troops and in 2011 it celebrated soul music, doubling the previous year's ratings. The latest edition, which aired live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on December 16th 2012, celebrated dance music and paid tribute to Whitney Houston and Donna Summer.

For his release "Battle Studies" Grammy award winner John Mayer goes on the acclaimed show VH1 Storytellers. He plays songs from all his previous albums, and tells the stories that goes into his writing and understanding of them. Filmed 10 December 2009 in Brooklyn and aired 28 January 2010. He discusses the stories behind such songs as “Your Body Is a Wonderland," "Daughters," "Heartbreak Warfare" and "Who Says."

Earlier this month Adele stopped by a studio in Harlem to perform a six-song set for VH1 Unplugged. We have the song known as “The Contradictions Track,” which is “(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman,” in advance of the show’s online premiere March 3. It may seem like a dangerous move for any singer to cover Aretha Franklin. Is there a more surefire way to feel inadequate? But Adele smartly introduced the song by saying she wouldn’t attempt to reinterpret it. While we agree with her sentiment (and respect for Aretha), turns out no disclaimer was needed. Listening up-close to Adele’s mellow but true rendition, which required only minimal guitar and keys, it seemed to us there is no one Adele can’t cover with her powerful, nuanced singing.

ZZ Top might seem like something of a challenge for the VH1 "Storytellers" series because while this Texas blues-rock band has a secure spot in music history, its three members don't have a reputation for being all that chatty. Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill - the two bearded guys out front - are droll and funny. So is drummer Frank Beard, the one without a beard. But they've mostly let their music talk over the 40 years they've been playing together. This show comes across more as a ZZ Top greatest-hits concert, which certainly won't disappoint ZZ Top fans. VH1 ILL-ustrated is an animated series that aired on VH1 and was conceived by animation producer Bob Cesca that parodied pop culture and politics. Recurring characters include satirical caricatures of Axl Rose, Michael Jackson, among others. The animated series were later aired on MTV2 and SBS.

In 1996, VH1 organized a benefit concert for Witness with Human Rights First. Robin Williams filmed a moving message for the concert on the power of individuals and video to document and impact important human rights issues. The global activist organization Witness provides video cameras to human rights groups to document abuses, so it was fitting that rocker Rod Stewart launched Sunday's 'VH1 Honors' tertainment world, with performances by Witness co-founder Peter Gabriel, Bryan Adams, Don Henley, R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe (also a Witness co-founder), Natalie Merchant, Gloria Estefan and Pete Townshend. The queen of soul, Aretha Franklin, and four of the biggest female hitmakers in contemporary pop, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, and Shania Twain, joined forces for this once-in-a-lifetime concert event, in which they individually sing their hits and team up for a variety of ensemble performances. The night also includes an appearance by legendary songwriter Carole King.

The Who were honored at the 2008 ceremony from the Pauley Pavilion at UCLA instead of the usual Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Events Center. The concert consisted of an hour-long performance by the band as well as tributes by Incubus, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Flaming Lips, Adam Sandler and Tenacious D.

Filmed as part of the VH1 Storytellers series, Taylor Swift performed a live acoustic concert on October 15, 2012 at the Bridges Auditorium, after the Harvey Mudd College won the "Taylor Swift on Campus" contest.

This program also contains Springsteen's detailed comments, introductions, and anecdotes on the songs origins, as well as a previously unseen question and answer session between the musician and his fans.
